The Dutch have a knack for inventing words that don’t translate readily into English. One such word is “gezellig.” Gezellig can be translated as a cozy, or nice atmosphere, but can also connote the feeling of seeing someone after a long absence, or the warm feeling you get when spending time with friends. If you’ve ever been to a grand café in Lowlands Europe, there’s no better word to describe them than “gezellig.”


It is this feeling that we try to foster in everything we do at the Lowlands Group – from the spaces we create, the food we serve and the experiences we offer our guests. At the end of the day, we want all of our guests to leave with this unique, hard-to-describe feeling of “American gezellig.” Here are just a few of the ways we try to create this feeling:
