10 Sep KWAKTOBERFEST!
Join us in celebrating over 200 years of Belgian brewing tradition with Brouwerij Bosteels at Kwaktoberfest on the rooftop at Café Benelux on Saturday, September 28th from 4 – 10 PM. Enjoy Belgian classics like Tripel Karmeliet and Kwak, as well as something extra special this year, with the North American launch of an all-new bier from Bosteels. The details are a surprise, but this bier has been in development for nearly a decade in order to perfect the recipe for release to the public. This event will be the first place in North America you can get your hands on it, and our cafés will be the U.S. exclusive carriers of this bier until 2020.
This Bosteels Belgian Bier Festival kicks off at 4 PM and tapping of the new bier release will be at 7 PM by Brouwerij Bosteels legend, Jack Van Antwerpen—all the way from Belgium!
We’ll also have live music, snacks and bottle sabering all night, so join us for an event you won’t want to miss!

ABOUT THE BEERS
Kwak – 8.4% – A Belgian strong pale ale with a rich, amber color and sweet, malty aroma. Kwak is named after Pauwel Kwak, a Belgian Innkeeper and tavern owner from the late 18th century whose inn was frequented by mail coaches. Napoleonic Code forbade these coach drivers from abandoning their horse and post to enjoy a beer in his bar, so he had a special glass blown that would hang from their coaches so he could take the beer to them! Today, Kwak is still served in that same glass, complete with a monogrammed wooden stand custom designed by Pauwel Kwak.
Tripel Karmeliet – 8.4 % – A Belgian tripel-threat of delicate wheat, creamy oats, and wholesome barley combined with spicy citrus flavors and aromas of vanilla that are as elegant as the glass in which it’s served! Tripel Karmeliet is still brewed to an authentic beer recipe from 1679 originating in the former Carmelite monastery in Dendermonde.
DeuS – 11.5% – Clean and effervescent. A floral nose with whispers of lemon meringue and ginger from its distinct yeast strain enhance its soft, biscuity malt backbone. The true Champagne of beer, DeuS Brut des Flandres is the crown, sparkling jewel of the Brouwerij Bosteels’ portfolio. It begins like all hand-crafted beers do, as a beverage comprised of just water, malt, hops, and a special, carefully- cultivated yeast strain. But from there, it is shipped off to the Champagne region of France, where it undergoes another fermentation and maturation in the méthode champenoise used to produce sparkling wine. Truly a beer worth celebrating.
NEW BIER – XX.X% – We can’t tell you much about this new bier before the unveiling but we can say we nearly cried when we first sampled it! It’s so unique (and strong) that it will be served in 11cl pours—or just shy of four ounces.
