Tosa Village Beer Garden Announcement

After the completion of an extensive, multi-year streetscaping project that has transformed Wauwatosa’s historic village district the Lowlands Group announces today the Tosa Village Beer Garden. This beer garden will be located in the heart of the village on a newly-expanded patio overlooking the Menomonee River. Scheduled to open in early June, the Tosa Village Beer Garden will offer a variety of drinks including international and domestic craft beers on draft, as well as wine, cocktails and more.

Food options from the adjacent Café Bavaria will be offered including sausages and hot dogs as well as snacks such as pretzels and fried cheese curds. The beer garden will be separate from Café Bavaria, which will continue to offer full-service outdoor dining as well.

“The goal was to create a different kind of experience for the Village that wasn’t traditional outdoor dining.” said Dan Herwig, director of brand and marketing at Lowlands Group. “There’s so much energy and traffic since the completion of the streetscaping initiative that we wanted to create a place where you could grab a quick drink and snack, or spend a sunny afternoon just enjoying the village.”

The group’s popular neighborhood and rooftop patios are typically very busy in the summer months, so the Tosa Village Beer Garden will offer more casual counter service, as well as large, communal beer garden tables that encourage neighbors to meet and mingle.

To accommodate the beer garden at Café Bavaria—and to expand Café Hollander’s outdoor patio—a large expansion to the Harwood pedestrian bridge is currently underway. When completed, the new seating areas will be larger and offer much-improved views of the adjacent Menomonee River.

“After years of planning and construction the Village is really coming to life,” said Herwig. “We hope the beer garden adds even more life to Tosa this summer.”

Lowlands Group has not set a firm opening date for the Tosa Village Beer Garden yet, but is currently targeting early June, depending on the construction schedule for the project. More information about the beer garden can be found at
